Description

About 1867, a group of properous Claiborne Parish farmers helped lead Claiborne Parish into the Industrial Revolution by building a cotton factory a few miles east of Homer at Arizona, LA. The three-story building made cotton thread and Osnaburg cloth. Inadequate transportation and a lack of skilled workers were the prime factors in its decline. It was in operation from 1867-1875. The chimney is located on private property but it is visible from state Hwy. 806. It is well worth your time to view, photograph, and listen to the history of this old structure.
